  1. When it says brown sugar, does it mean light brown or dark brown?

  2. Has anyone had to make any high altitude adjustments? I live in Colorado and almost always have to follow high altitude directions when baking cakes and cookies.

  1. These were excellent! I left out the almond extract and used all butter instead of half shortening and half butter. Could be made with a variety of flavors of pudding and chips. Imagine chocolate pudding and peanut butter chips or butterscotch pudding and chips. I will be making these often and try every possibility!

  2. Wonderfully soft cookies! In fact, they were so soft coming out of the oven, I was paranoid that the first batch was under cooked. But once they cooled alittle they were still soft and very delicious. One variation I did, I used instant chocolate pudding mix and put a chocolate mini-kiss ontop of each cookie before putting in the oven. it made a real chocolate overload!

  3. This goes over the 5 star rating! One recipe gives height to the imagination. I made these and added chopped maraschino cherries and another batch with butterscotch pudding, omitted the almond extract and added coconut flavoring then followed the recipe as posted. What a recipe you gave to us all, Thanks.

  4. Oh my gosh! These were so good! My husband loves soft cookies and he and his two friends raved about these. I used chocolate pudding and thought the batter might be too dry, but they turned out excellent! Thanks.

Tweaks

  1. Best Chocolate Chip Cookies EVER!! I have made these cookies several times and people are always amazed at how soft and delicious they are! I use light brown sugar and 1 cup of milk chocolate chips + 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips (the combo adds an extra delicious dimension to the cookies!) I also recently made the recipe substituting 1/4 cup flour for cocoa powder and chocolate pudding instead with white chocolate chips and macadamia nut pieces. AMAZING!

  2. Wow. Crispy caramelized edges, soft and chewy in the middle. Had to bake them 15 minutes b/c I made them bigger (tablespoon). Used vanilla extract instead of almond, and it was heaven in every bite. Utterly delicious.

  3. Great recipe, thank you. Had Hershey's little less than 4 oz box pudding box, so used that. Used waxed paper on cookie sheet. O so good!

  4. These are the best chocolate chip cookies ever. I subbed half the chips for pecans and coconut oil for the shortening. Love this recipe

  5. I've never been great at making cookies, they usually come out too thin or oddly shaped, but this cookie recipe was easy and came out great. I used 1 cup butter instead of butter and shortening and I used white chocolate chips. They were amazing with some vanilla ice cream. I think the pudding mix made it the perfect light, soft texture. My boyfriend said they tasted like a better version of mrs. fields white chocolate cookies :)
