Q: Botox to reduce trapezius muscle? (photos)Answered by Dr. YewMarch 12, 2024A: Botox is an excellent option to help slim the trapezius muscle for 3-4 months. ($900 per session is expensive and I would seek an experienced provider that can target the affected trigger muscles. We have had good results with as little as 40 units total. (Photo)Answered by Dr. YewFebruary 15, 2024A: Your have breat bone structure (cheekbones and jaw shape). With aging - the lower part of the face may become fuller than the cheekbones. If that happens - it's due to the jaw muscles (masseters) getting larger from normal use (eating, talking, clenching, grinding, etc...) If the temples are getting larger - you may experience tension headaches/migraines. It's important to find an experienced provider - so ask them how long they have been injecting jaw muscles. Ask them how many units they are injecting and why. If it's not injected correctly - you can get a crooked smile for 4 months. Given the increasing number of injectors - I suggest asking first:How many years have you been injecting full time? The more years - the more experienced.Ask to see the vial or syringe Expiration Date to make sure you are getting what you requested.At our practice - each provider shows every patient the vial or syringe with the expiration date so they know what they are getting.Q: What is the brand you use for Botox?Answered by Dr. YewOctober 13, 2023A: The various brands of Botox are manufactured by different companies but essentially - the active molecule is the same. (Similar to "Ibuprofen" but there are brands such as Motrin, Advil, etc....) Botox/Dysport/Xeomin/Jeuveau all last 3-4 months. Daxxify is reported to last a bit longer - maybe up to 6 months. The variation depends on multiple factors such as concentration, injection volume, anatomy etc... More important than the product - is the injector.
